The Personal Wellbeing group have been doing a series of walks over the last few months, this has included walking in The Hermitage, Bankfoot and different walks around Perth. These walks are to encourage people to see the benefits to their physical and mental wellbeing and show people there are lots of nice areas to walk in our community. One week we went to Bankfoot and joined The Stride for Life group on their walk which was enjoyable and a good source of exercise. This is Perth and Kinross Council group that runs each Thursday and is a great way to bring a community together and to include yourself in a community activity. These walks are on offer in villages and towns all over Perth and Kinross and everyone can get involved. Another week we walked to the Willow Gate Activity Centre from the project we walked down the Edinburgh Road and across to the Perth Railway Bridge. We crossed the bridge, taking in all the lovely scenery and the many beautiful snowdrops in full bloom.
For most of the group, this was the first time they had walked over this railway bridge and they were interested to see the allotments on the right hand side and parts of the King James golf course as we walked. It was nice to take a scenic walk without worrying about traffic and crossing roads etc. Everyone was able to enjoy the relaxed walk, being mindful and looking out for birds and seals and listening for all the lovely spring sounds.
